Mentoring

Clinical Biomechanics with Jo Abbott

what you do

Initially you contemplate entering a mentoring programme, determining if ‘we’ are a good fit.

what I do

I contemplate working alongside you as your mentee, exploring your application and expectations.

what we do

If ‘we’ fit, its then time for planning and considering what this relationship is going to look like

There are many reasons why you should consider a mentor…

Access to Experience

First and foremost, I’ve been where you are. I have years of experience and expertise you can tap into. The information and knowledge I can impart are invaluable. And it’s not just that I can help you get it right, I can also help you avoid getting it wrong – which I did plenty of times!

Objective Observation

Then there’s the fact that I can be your fresh pair of eyes. Sometimes you can’t see what you’re doing for looking because you’re simply too close to it. I can play the part of your unbiased, objective and honest expert observer. One who can spot and solve your weakness and enhance your strengths. But one who also cares deeply about your success and well-being.

Motivation

Plus I’ll motivate and inspire you to push yourself, to be your best, to grow. Perhaps, most importantly, I’ll have your back and encourage you to keep going when you’d rather be doing anything else! You’ll always find me even-handed with my pushing and my praise because I know you can do whatever you set your mind to.

Tough Love

Furthermore, I can be the discipline, focus and commitment we all lack from time to time. In my experience, my clients are often their harshest critics. However, I prefer to challenge you with the constructive feedback and tough love you need to stay on point.

A Trusted Partner

And when you need a sounding-board, a filter and, most of all, someone you can trust, that’ll be me. We can discuss your thoughts and ideas and I’ll help you choose the ones most likely to get you where you want to go. Don’t worry, trust is implicit in all I undertake. Everything we discuss and do together is confidential.

Direction and Drive

Last but far from least, I know what it takes to succeed – believe me, I really have been there, seen it, done it – and I can instill that hunger in you. No one will be more passionate about you achieving your goals than me. And although I know that working to achieve your ambitions is a serious business, it also has to be fun and balanced with family. I believe you’ve got to enjoy and be entertained by the process and that’s what I can bring to your journey.

Virtual and/or in person

Since March 2020 there has been an incredible growth in what is now possible digitally.  Driven by the global ‘social distancing’ legal requirement, those very clever ‘techi’s’ were providing us all with the ability to connect with the rest of the world.  We have both options in mentoring thanks to these clever people.  Don’t feel restrained by the inability to do face-to-face meetings, there are always new possibilities, of which I can discuss with you in your consult.

Mentoring with Colleagues

Why work alone? Find a colleague who has the same interests and experiences as you and come together to learn, develop and improve your skills.  All mentoring packages allow between 1-3 participants.  These participants need to remain the same throughout the mentoring term.

Continued Professional Development (CPDs)

Currently I am investigating gaining CPDs for all mentoring packages.  As I’m sure you are aware this can entail lots of costs and time to complete the journey for CPD Accreditation, however I hope to have this completed by December.

“WHAT WE THINK WE BECOME”

BUDDHA

In my experience, there’s nothing like helping someone you care about ‘create themselves’ in the way that they want

Initial Enquiry

Do 'we' fit?

Mentoring needs to be ‘giving a person, paying for a service, what they need to progress, grow and be successful’. Enrolling on a course does not tick this box. I need you to tell me what you need clarity on, support on for growth, and what tools you need to successfully deal with your daily workflow.

Click on the button below to complete your initial enquiry regarding Clinical Biomechanics Mentoring with me.  Please note: there is no commitment to submitting this form, it is purely an enquiry of ‘fit’ between us.  This form needs to be completed for all enquiries.

Mentoring Programme FAQs

The following are some frequently asked questions people ask for during mentoring.  We find these are quite helpful to illustrate the benefits of the programme. Hover (tap) on the questions below to reveal the answers.

Do "We" Fit?

e.g. Nutrition

One of the most common mentoring subjects I support my mentee’s with is nutrition.  Musculoskeletal health nutrition; inflammation, acidity, fatigue, injury, cellular regeneration and renewal, gut mechanisms, tissue mechanics, and other dis-eases in the nutritional system.

Do "We" Fit?

e.g. Jaw pain

For four years I worked, and conducted TMD research, alongside an incredible pioneering Dentist and Myotherapist.  We optimised screens, tests, and corrective work for all patients – my contributions I am happy to support you with.

Do "We" Fit?

e.g. Screening

Collecting data on the way a patient stands, sits, lays, and moves are absolutely vital for you when marrying the data to their story.  There is so much controversy around this subject – allow me to bring you in to the PRO-MSK Health Screening. Don’t Wait for them to Break!

Do "We" Fit?

e.g. start where?

I often hear, “I don’t know where is the best place to start the correction”.  Correcting the non-optimal movement/posture patterns of your patients is critical to MSK Health – providing you have chosen the correct ‘test’ and a reliable ‘instrument’ to collect the data with! There is no one-size fits all. This needs to be ‘on-the-fly’ creation by you – personal to them and I can show you how!
